The beginning of 2010 Lucas began coming up with these one-liners that were both hilarious and things I could not in a million years figure out where he got them.from. I did really well for a few months documenting these as he said them.
January 2010- He began verbalizing when he did and not want to do something. But instead of just telling me that he didn't want to, he would say, "I don't wanna like it." So if I told him that I wanted him to take a bath before story time he would say, "I don't wanna like to take a bath first." This went on for months. One conversation went like this- Me: "Bud help me clean up these toys and then we will start our movie." Lucas: "But Mommy, I don't wanna like cleaning. I want to be happy." I found that difficult to argue with.
Right around his 3rd birthday in May of 2010 he started taking a liking to baseball. So I took him outside to play catch. He immediately realized that I was terrible at it and came over to me, patted me on my arm and said, "Mommy, you need to practice. We can try later."
In 2011 (I did not write down the date) Lucas counted to 32 while sitting at the table. I made a huge deal about how high he can count, and he rolled his eyes and said, "Mommy I can count higher than that. That's how just many crayons I have right now."
